The Indian Society of Pulses Research and Development (ISPRD) (Regn. No. 877) was founded in 1987 with the following objectives:
- To advance the cause of pulses research
- To promote research and development, teaching and extension activities in pulses
- To facilitate close association among pulse workers in India and abroad
- To publish quarterly Journal of Food Legumes, which is the official publication of the Society
