The Indian Society of Pulses Research and Development has instituted various Awards for recognizing significant contributions of scientists to promote research and development in pulses. These awards are to be presented at the time of symposium/conference organized by the society. The details of various ISPRD awards are given below:
1. ISPRD Lifetime Achievement Award (One in number)
- ISPRD Lifetime Achievement Award is established to honor those scientists who have made outstanding life-long contributions (more than 25 years active in service) in pulses research and development.
- The award recognizes demonstrated value delivered in research and development rather than purely academic achievement. Therefore, nominee will be expected to have demonstrated tangible and persistent contributions that lead towards improved pulses production, improvement and protection.
- Academicians, industry professionals, economists, researchers, policy makers and others who are member of ISPRD and meet these criteria are eligible. Nomination for this award will be made by Executive Council of ISPRD.
ISPRD Lifetime Achievement Award
Three awards will be given during 2023-25 periods irrespective of subject categories. The subject categories include:

- The eligibility for this award included those scientists who made outstanding life-long contributions (more than 25 years active in service) in pulses research and development including academicians, industry professionals, economists, researchers, policy makers and others who are life member of ISPRD and meet these criteria. Nomination for this award will be made by Executive Council of ISPRD.
2. ISPRD Excellence Award (Three in number)
- One in the discipline of Crop Improvement including Genetics and Plant Breeding (Genetics, Cytogenetics, Plant Breeding) and Biotechnology and allied disciples (including Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry and Plant Physiology)
- One in Crop Protection (includes Plant Pathology, Entomology and Nematology)
- One in Natural Resource management and Social Science (includes Agronomy, Agro- climatology, Soil Science including Agricultural Chemistry, Farm Mechanization and Microbiology)
- ISPRD Excellence Award is to be given to eminent Indian scientists (who are an active member of ISPRD) for their outstanding contributions in pulses research and development.
- He/she should have 20 years of research experiences and also still active in service.
- These awards are to honor those distinguished pulse workers/scientists who are Fellow of the Society.
Total 06 awards will be given during 2023-25 periods with 02 awards each from each subject category. The subject categories include:

Guidelines for Evaluation of Nominations for Excellence Award
Allocation of marks for different criteria:
Publications – maximum 50 marks
Products & Technologies – maximum 30 marks
Books – maximum 5 marks

Others (Outstanding Academic Contributions) – maximum 5 marks
1. PUBLICATIONS (Max. 50 marks)
- Forty most important publications will be considered. The Reviews and Review Articles will not be given any marks. The nominees should submit the list of their 40 best research publications, of relevance to the discipline. For each publication give name(s) of the author(s), indicate the corresponding author by asterisk‘*’ after his/her name, year of publication, full title, name of the journal, volume No. and page Nos. For NAAS scoring of journals, list of Journals as identified by NAAS rating (year 2025) and available on Academy website: www.naas.org.in may be consulted and the Journal ID should be mentioned in the column provided in the proforma against each publication. For Thomson Reuters Impact Factor (IF) journals, NAAS Score = 6.0 + IF (latest) with capping on 20.00.
- There should be at least 10 research papers on pulses in journals that should be indicated by asterisk in list of publications.
- Multiple authorship: First author and corresponding author will get full marks in a publication and rest of the authors 75% marks.
- The total NAAS Score of all 40 publications will be obtained and multiplied by 0.125 with a cap of maximum of 50 marks.
2. PRODUCTS AND TECHNOLOGIES (Max. 30 marks)
15 best products and/or technologies should be given (each having 2 marks). The Committees may consider equivalent indicators for scoring and award of maximum marks as given below depending upon relevance and level of penetration of product/technology among stakeholders. For online products, URL should be accessible.

Each authored book scores 2 marks and edited book scores 1 mark. Each book Chapter will be given 0.25 marks subject to a maximum of 2 marks out of 5 marks given for Books.

8. ISPRD Best Poster Presentation Award:
Two (First and Second) awards will be given from each technical session in Conference.
9. ISPRD Best Oral Presentation Award:
One award from each technical session will be given.
General guidelines
- The awards are open to all the Indian Scientists who have worked or working in India or abroad, in the field of Pulses Research and Development subject to fulfilment of eligibility criteria laid down for the respective award.
- The applicant must be Life Member of the ISPRD (If any non-member wishes to apply, he/she should become a member before submission of application for the award).
- No member from the Executive Committee (EC) will be considered for ISPRD awards during his/her EC term.
- Executive Committee of the Indian Society of Pulses Research and Development (ISPRD) shall appoint a Judging Committee of 3-5 eminent scientists for evaluation of 100%.
- It may not be necessary to have a Separate Judging Committee for each ISPRD Award. The EC may constitute one, two or more Judging Committees for recommending names for ISPRD Awards.
- The EC shall finalize and approve the names of ISPRD awardees, whose decision shall be final and binding.
- Evaluation for all the ISPRD Awards shall be made based on score system developed for each award. The awards shall be given strictly on merit. However, minimum qualifying marks shall be 60 per cent in each case.
- Only soft copy of award application with necessary attachment is required to submit through online at https://ncpulses.isprd.in/ starting from 20.12.2025.
- Applicants are advised to attach relevant documents for which marks are being claimed or wherever it has been asked in the application form to enable to judges to give marks accordingly. Attaching of non-asked documents will attract minus marking.
- The proofs of age, service experience, and ISPRD membership must be given along with application.
- The cut of date for respective year of application will be 31st December of that year for which award is applied.
- Supporting documents should be properly labeled with appropriate page number.
